Julian Assange is the Ned Kelly of the Digital Age

  1. Can't take to this bloke either, I'm afraid. I am all for freedom of the press and for freedom of information and all that stuff, but mass dumping of classified information that is sometimes in this category because it is necessary to protect people is extremely irresponsible. I know I sound like a dinosaur, but some government records are closed for varying periods for good reasons. Sure, governments do have some very dirty little secrets, but how can Assange be sure that the next time he releases a quarter of a million documents someone is not going to get hurt?

  2. This reminds me of when a crappy singer comes along & the media equate the mass hysteria to the Beatles. The sort of hysteria the Beatles caused cannot be compared, in a similar way I see how you cannot compare Assange with Ned, stupid to even try. As to whether or not he is a villain, well the biggest question is 'is anyone's life at risk due to his actions?' I read that in 3 months since the release of classified info no one has been injured due to that release. The question of right & wrong or 'in the public interest' is a tough one. I for one would like to know what these who run our world are saying behind our backs. Is a worry though when I read we here in Australia advocate an attack on China! Where would I get my next TV from? Dave (BAILUP)
